Join us for some community volunteering! This is a monthly food distribution where 200-300 families benefit from free groceries.
This is an exciting in person, family friendly volunteer opportunity to be in community with Redwood City Together, our new Community Initiative Grantee Partner.
“Food distribution is a great chance for volunteers to interface with clients and help build a resilient community. This is a hands-on volunteer activity where some jobs require repeated bending, carrying, and lifting of up to 25 pounds or more. This is an indoor Farmers Market-style distribution where activities may include setting up tables and displaying food; unloading and moving food from pallets; sorting produce; bagging frozen meat items; greeting and checking in clients; assisting clients with their selections; and cleaning up the site and handling recyclables and compost.
Volunteers must be willing and able to work with people of different backgrounds and nationalities, exhibit compassion and sensitivity, and maintain strict confidentiality of all client and volunteer information.“

As SV2’s Community Initiative gets underway, SV2 is making a significant grant and engagement investment in Redwood City Together. This amazing Grantee Partner was selected by a Core Team of community leaders, SV2 Partners, and staff who made this grant decision on behalf of SV2.
SV2’s Community Initiative is a three-year focused grantmaking and community engagement program in which SV2 Partners and staff will engage with Redwood City Together, a multi-stakeholder initiative creating measurable social impact in the Redwood City / North Fair Oaks community. We hope this work will accelerate SV2 Partners’ social change and equity journeys, help us learn about building relationships in service of common goals, and lead to impact both in the community and in SV2 as an organization. We are committed to sharing power, broadening the voices at the table, and growing in trust-based philanthropy.
