Tech for Good Grant Round Meeting #4 | Grant Decision

SV2 Grant Round participants will discuss the five finalist organizations using SV2’s rubric and select our two newest Grantee Partners.

In Meeting #4 on Zoom, SV2 Grant Round participants will discuss the five finalist organizations using SV2’s rubric categories, and vote for two organizations. These two organizations will receive 3-year unrestricted grants of $75,000 each. Participants must be present at this Zoom meeting in order to vote.

About the Grant Round:

In our rapidly changing world, we’re impacted by technology on a regular basis. It could be how we get around, how we learn and work, how we communicate with each other, how we get healthcare, how we shop, and much more. Not everyone has access to basic technology that some of us take for granted. For example, according to SF’s Digital Equity Strategic Plan, about one in eight San Franciscans lack high-speed internet access at home, and one in seven lack basic digital literacy skills. With emerging technologies such as AI, how will our lives and wellbeing be impacted?

The ‘good’ in tech for good is certainly happening – e.g. accelerating emergency response, doing mental health check-ins with K-12 students that give educators real-time insights into student well-being, redistributing unused food or medicines to underresourced communities, providing clean alternatives to fossil fuels, equipping immigrants with legal resources, and more.

Inclusive tech centered around our experiences, realities, and aspirations plays an important role in our individual and community thriving.

In May 2024, SV2 will allocate $150,000 of unrestricted, three-year funding across two organizations ($75,000 each). SV2 will also offer the selected organizations beyond-the-dollars support as helpful and friendship! Throughout our process, SV2 practices equity and trust-based philanthropy in our grantmaking and relationship building.

This Grant Round is co-led by Aarthi Ramaswamy and Shalyn Eason(SV2 Partners) and Amy Badiani (SV2 staff). Questions? Contact Amy Badiani, Director of Community Engagement, SV2: abadiani@sv2.org.
