Following our inspiring update session on May 19, we are filled with immense gratitude for the powerful work being done across our Grantee portfolio. These gatherings offer a vital window into our collective social impact, allowing us to celebrate hard-won progress, navigate real-world challenges together, and find new avenues of collaboration. The visionary, lived-experience leadership steering these organizations is a potent reminder of why equity-centered solidarity is more essential than ever during these complex times.

The work and progress of all of these outstanding leaders keep us hopeful about our present and our future. SV2 highly recommends these organizations for further funding and support. Continuous Funding and Transitions

SV2’s Committee unanimously and enthusiastically confirmed the next round of unrestricted funding for all Grantees entering Year 2 or Year 3 of their grant period with SV2.

It was also very meaningful to hear updates from our Grantees who are terming out of their grant period with SV2. We thank them for their dedicated three-year partnership with SV2. As their formal grant cycle concludes, our relationship will evolve into a new phase. We are deeply grateful for the impact we have achieved together and look forward to staying connected through our Alumni Grantee network.

Highlights of What Our Grantee Partners Are Proud Of

• Ambition Angels: Creating an app called Ambition that delivers 30-day simulated internships to teens 14 to 24 from underresourced communities. Since piloting their app, they have reached 3,500 teens across 36 different partners; 87% of which come from Title One schools.
• Ayudando Latinos A Soñar (ALAS): Expanding its Equity Express model which brings culturally rooted mental health care, food access, and health navigation directly to farmworker communities across the Coastside by meeting families where they are: On farms, in housing sites, and in trusted community spaces.
• Brightline Defense: Exploring local environmental justice issues across California, highlighting the work of activists, decision-makers, and community-based organizations in The Brightline Podcast.
• Climate Resilient Communities: Expanding the Youth Climate Collective Program with the support from Santa Clara county and building new Climate Change Community Teams in San Mateo, Sunnyvale, and Gilroy.
• Friends for Youth: Expanding to North San Mateo County since this geography has only one nonprofit for every 1,000 families, and is now serving Continuation High Schools where they can support students with higher needs by partnering with Redwood High School.
• Learning Home Volunteers: Finalizing a plan and statement of work for a new pilot program in 2026 that will allow other communities to roll out a successful methodology of working with families to support their children gain foundational skills to prepare them for kindergarten.
• Parent Voices: Creating a new community organizing space where parent leaders can run trainings, coalition partners can hold strategy sessions, and political education can take place.
• PODER: Reaching over 7,000 individuals with Know-Your-Rights information through workshops, tabling at resource fairs, street outreach, etc., as well as creating the Immigrants’ Rights Agenda and participating in organizing for its local implementation.
• Redwood City Together: Becoming a state-accredited Accountable Community for Health (ACH) under the California Accountable Communities for Health Initiative (CACHI) as a violence prevention model and receiving recognition from the local Senator’s office.
• The José Valdés Math Institute (JVMI): Conducting their 37th consecutive summer math program and receiving the NBC Universal Impact Award which has enabled them to have year-round programming.

Our Equity-Centered Approach

Each of our Grantees is paired with 1-2 Partner Champions whom they select. These SV2 Partner Champions and our staff cultivate strong relationships, support our Grantees, and connect them to our broader community as helpful.

As we advance equity-centered philanthropy, we host relational check-in calls with the Executive Directors and leaders leading up to our Updates and Celebration meeting. This tends to be very insightful, meaningful, and actionable. We do not require a written grant report in order to release the next round of unrestricted funding, which can often be very burdensome for busy nonprofit leaders trying to focus on their actual mission-driven work.
