The theme of our Fall Gathering 2018 was “Building Connections. Bridging Communities.”
We were delighted to have a vibrant group of Partners, Grantees, Impact Investees, SV2 staff, and other community members and guests join us at the Mitchell Park Community Center.
The evening included time to mingle, opening remarks by Linda Lazor – SV2 CEO, speaker introductions by Jody Chang – SV2 Chief Operating and Portfolio Officer, and featured the stories and work of SV2 Grantees California Youth Connection (CYC) and Working Partnerships USA (WPUSA).
We got to hear from Haydée Cuza and Marissa Guerrero (CYC) and Derecka Mehrens and Ashley Lattin (WPUSA) about their positive change work, and how they are exemplifying positive change, including foster youth turning trauma into triumph and workers building an economy in which everyone can thrive. Ashley Lattin, WPUSA Trades Orientation Program Graduate and Sheet Metal Apprentice, shared her incredibly inspiring story of resilience, persistence, and steadfastness towards achieving her goals. Many participants shared how moved and energized they were by CYC and WPUSA.
Testimonial: “So proud and grateful to be part of this group of smart, humble, talented group. SV2 is one of my oases in these turbulent times.” – SV2 Partner
Linda shared how SV2 is creating positive change by bridging understandings across our neighborhoods, connecting talents and resources with non-profits and social enterprises who are addressing their key challenges, and building connections that strengthen our community and accelerate our giving.
